Hey! Going to ALA?
:iconjetspectacular:
I am~ i sent you a note~!
:iconvogonford:
Hey there, I'm on Airsoft Pacific and I need some help :P I like the wigs you do, and I was wondering if you'd have any pointers to doing a Himura Kenshin wig (I'm thinking of cosplaying him).

Thankies!

Wigs aren't my specialty, but I can give you a few tips. Are you thinking of cosplaying the more realistic version of the OVA or the anime version? His hair is very different between the two.
:iconvogonford:
Anime/manga. I don't like the OVA that much, they made him too dark and removed all stuff that made the anime and manga funny.

I'd start out with an orangish red wig with long bangs (try ebay, and anything under $20 is going to be really bad quality). For the cutting of bangs, I'd use the techniques found in this tutorial: [link]
However, you'll want the bangs to be much longer (just below eye level in the middle of the face, and going lower on the sides).
For styling the wig, use hair clips to hold segments of hair out of the way, got2bglued spray for a strong hold when you are giving the bangs that anime 'lift', a haridryer on low to set the got2bglued faster, Aquanet(or other hairspray) for overall hold, and hairwax to help keep the end of the bang spikes together. Here's a tutorial that shows the technique you'll be using: [link]=Dek3rBkNa-Y&feature=related
Obviously the bangs aren't quite spikes, so curve them and don't make them stick straight in the air.
If you want to make the ponytail portion of the wig fluffier like the anime, pull the outer layer of ponytail hair back and lightly tease the inner layer with a comb. Brush the outer layer over the teased section and add a little hairspray.

I hope that helps. By the way, what's your username on AP?
:iconvogonford:
VogonFord's the name. :P I use it pretty much everywhere, which does mean I'm fairly easy to track.

And your second link broke due to dA reading a part of it as an emoticon. Send it to me over AP? [link]

This'll help a lot, though. I wasn't sure how much work I was going to have to do, but I think I can pull this off! :D Thanks!
